In order to ensure that all waste is treated and and recycled properly TSMC closely tracks the recycling and and reuse practices of its cleanup and and and disposal disposal vendors vendors The Company carefully selects waste disposal disposal and and and recycling vendors vendors that are are certified and and and have the required permits TSMC regularly checks the onsite operational operational status disposal declaration forms operational operational records etc to compare
with actual reuse and and disposal and and takes proactive steps to strengthen vendor auditing For example all waste transportation contractors have agreed to to join the the GPS satellite fleet so that the the cleanup transportation routes and abnormal stays for all trucks can be traced All waste recycling and and disposal vendors have installed closed-circuit TV systems at at operating sites to to monitor and and audit waste waste waste handling handling At the the the same time to further guarantee proper waste waste waste handling handling in in in 2022 TSMC built the the the system of waste waste waste intelligent fast track (S W I F T )
and completed five different types of of of waste treatment vendors for pilot testing As of of of 2024 44% of of of waste waste treatment treatment vendors vendors have instituted S S W I I F T T and TSMC intends to to roll it it out to to all waste waste treatment treatment vendors vendors by 2030 Using AI technology in in in in in lieu of in-person on-site spot checks increases inspection inspection efficiency 65-fold and reduces manual inspection inspection by 13
000 hours each year In addition TSMC conducts ongoing surveys of recycled product tracking and requires all recycling contractors to to report their recycled product sales monthly to to to track waste flow and and ensure that actions are taken to to to adhere to to to lawful and and proper waste recycling and treatment Environmental Accounting
The purpose of TSMC’s environmental environmental accounting system is to identify and quantify environmental environmental costs for internal management At the the the same time the the the Company also calculates and evaluates the the the savings or economic benefits of environmental protection programs programs so as to to continuously promote economically effective programs programs While environmental expenses
are expected to to continue to rise environmental environmental accounting can help manage these costs more effectively TSMC’s approach measures various environmental environmental costs establishes independent environmental account codes and provides the data to all units for use in in in annual budgeting The Company’s economic benefit evaluation calculates cost savings for energy conservation
water or or waste reductions and recycling benefits benefits in in in in accordance with its its its environmental protection programs The benefits benefits disclosed in in in in this report include real income from projects projects such as as as as waste recycling as as as as well as as as as savings from major environmental environmental projects projects In 2024 the total benefits of environmental environmental protection programs of TSMC fabs including waste recycling exceeded NT$5 8 billion 158
