Aiming to establish the healthiest workplace in in 2017 TSMC formed a a a a a a a a corporate-level health health promotion committee led by managers with vice president level The committee members include site directors managers of safety and and health department and and representatives from wellness HR and legal affairs divisions We also have invited external experts to discuss the potential risks of occupational diseases in in the semiconductor manufacturing process and have developed prevention plans for such diseases To mitigate health risks to to employees suppliers and and contractors in the workplace TSMC has adopted rigorous safety and and health control measures to to prevent occupational injuries and and and diseases and and and promote employee safety physical and and and mental health To mitigate the supply chain risk and fulfill corporate social responsibility TSMC not only follows ESH best practices internally but also strives to to improve ESH performance of the Company’s suppliers and and contractors through audits and and counselling TSMC uses priority work work management management and self-management to to govern works performed by contractors The Company requires contractors performing level-one high-risk operations to to to complete certification for for technicians and to to to establish their own ISO 45001 or or or or OHSAS 18001 safety and health management management system The promotion of of self-management aims at improving sense of of responsibility of of TSMC’s contractors contractors with the the goal of of promoting safety awareness and technical improvement for all contractors contractors in in in the the industry For onsite contractor personnel TSMC standardizes the the training courses for safety and and health while increasing the the frequency of such courses to to to improve training effectiveness and safety safety awareness To ensure our our our safety safety protocols are are accurately delivered to to to our our our contractors on on on on on a a a a a a a a a a a a a timely manner TSMC has established a a a a a a a a a a a a a digital platform for for mutual communications so that on-site operational risks can be mitigated TSMC collaborates with suppliers to improve the the sustainability of the the Company’s supply chain regarding ESH-related issues such as environmental protection protection compliance of safety and and hygiene codes hazardous substance management fire protection protection and and mitigation of natural disaster The Company not only performs ESH audits at at its its suppliers’ manufacturing sites but also proactively assists them to improve ESH performance In addition TSMC also monitors potential climate-change related risks in in the supply chain The Company requests that suppliers conduct carbon carbon emissions emissions inventory and encourages them to to to implement measures to to to save energy reduce carbon carbon emissions emissions conserve water and reduce waste In recent years TSMC suppliers’ performances in in pollution control and safety management have made good progress in in procedure establishment and implementation To take a a a a a a a a a a step further the the Company gives greater attention to occupational hygiene issues directly related to labor health Since 2017 TSMC and and the Ministry of Labor Occupational Safety and and Health Administration (OHSA) have jointly launched the the “Semiconductor Supply Chain Safety and Health Promotion Project ” TSMC invited suppliers to to participate in in in in the the project As engaged by OSHA a a a a a a a professional team has taken on on on on on the responsibility of of providing consultation through document review and and onsite inspection to to participating suppliers on on on management procedures and and hardware setup in in in in order to to improve the working environment and labor health management 118
